They just make me want to make fun games! She sells them too, and they are in FABULOUS sets of graphics. I can't wait to get some more of those! Anyway, a few of her graphics gave me inspiration this morning and I used them to make two little phonics/reading games for my TPT store. The first one, was this sweet little blender!
How cute, right?!?!? In the past, we have really struggled with Blends in my room, and this clipart was just the inspiration I needed! Since we don't use a phonics program, almost all of our word study is differentiated through Words their Way and Guided Reading. But, I try to put lots of word work in stations so that they are at least introduced to these patterns, even if they aren't ready to use them in their writing or read them on their own. (Usually, my workstation partner groups have one strong reader so they can help their buddy. This station has 5 different blend groups, picture and word cards for the sorts, and a recording sheet.

Inspiration number two came from two places. :) I have 3 brothers and they are the best brothers EVER! Two of them, Andy and Ben, are twins! They are the exact same amount of crazy, wonderful, and hilarious. :) When I saw these sweet little twins, I immediately thought of my brothers, and then I thought of double consonants! They are like little twins in words...and twins just make me so happy! :)
I made a few activities to practice double consonants in words...I included words with them in the middle and the end, but all of them are words my firsties should be fairly familiar with. Each card has a picture of twins and the word! I made matching cards with clipart to go with each word. They can use it to match them, memory, or a fun Write the Room activity. I will just post the word cards around the room, and they will use the recording sheet to match the clipart with the word cards. I also included a circle map for when I introduce words with "twin letters" and a practice sheet where they can color in the double consonants.
You can get that baby HERE!
Happy Tuesday! :)
Ps...we are going to meet with one of my favorite people in the world tonight! He's my dad's best friend and he is going to be officiating our ceremony. I can't WAIT! Comment if you have any tips for how to make our ceremony perfect! I've never done this before. ;)
Haley!

Hi Haley! =)
ReplyDeleteNikki is great. She actually drew the blender for me after I saw that blender on Pinterest. I have a post on my blog about how we used the blender when we got a letter from Cranky Crab and Flora Flamingo...our blend friends. =)
I just found your cute blog. Guess what? I am a 1st grade teacher in Texas too! =)
I don't see a follow box on your blog but I am also having trouble with how some blogs are loading. You can add one by going to design at the top of your blog and then choose layout. Choose add a gadget and the followers should be the ninth choice. I'll be sure to stop back by and follow you.
I would love for you to hop over and visit me when you get the chance. =)
