1. Achieve a little more work/life balance. I have so many ideas swirling in my head that I know I will be working on school stuff alot. BUT, I really wanna try this year to spend more time focused on Keith, our puppy, our WEDDING, and our home. It's kind of a joke in our relationship, but I tend to neglect everything once I get my firsties. I have a goal to keep up the great habits I've started this summer like going to bed with no dishes, and getting the laundry done and put up in one day.
2. Keep organized, AND teach them to be organized. This year I'm starting out way better than I have in the past...here's hoping the ridiculous amount of containers I bought are put to good use!
3. Do more Guided Math! We have lots of new math initiatives this year which I know will help me with this one, but I want to spend more time with my littles in small groups, helping them on their level, and less time frantically trying to get all of their little needs met at the same time by running around the room to meet with them. No lie, I think I had 12 babies with some sort of special need last year, so it required A LOT of differentiation. I managed it, but I think Guided Math is the perfect framework to do this more consistently and purposefully.
4. Bring my lunch. Hah! I got in the awful habit of running to get fast food almost everyday last year with my sweet teacher neighbor. I convinced myself I needed to get out of the class, but I always frantically finished my food (usually in the car) and usually did not order the chargrilled chicken salad I promised myself I would get. :) So this year, I want to actually ENJOY my lunch and eat healthier.
5. Do more things for my teammates. I try to bring breakfast, snacks, little gifts as often as possible for them, but this year we just have the best team EVER, and am so thankful for them and my precious team leader. We will desperately miss our Sarah though. ;) I'm trying to think of a fun back to school gift for them, but I want to show them how much I appreciate them all year. They make me a better teacher, and they do more for our babies than anyone knows.
Sooo...what are YOU going to do this year??
It's a good thing you mentioned how much you miss me because I do still stalk your blog :) wish I could see your lovely classroom in person! It looks amazing and I am so impressed.
ReplyDeleteI love how much you regard your team! I'm a little scared to work with a team in the future but I'm sure it has so many advantages! As far as healthy lunches go, you should definitely check out Pinterest for that! I also made "Prairie Sushi" from the Pioneer Woman for school last week using Whole Wheat Tortillas and they were delicious and I was able to make 3 days worth ahead of time!
ReplyDeleteOh, I forgot to tell you that it isn't really "sushi", its just a turkey wrap cut to look like sushi :o)
