So, I missed ya'll yesterday! :) I had such a good day though! Here are two things that made me SUPER happy!
Liam called me and asked me to pick him up and, of course, I said sure!! I love the summer, because I get to spend so much time with him. He asked to go get a toy, and when he picked out this Star Wars too I thought "oh...Keith will be SO happy!" He asked to go to Starbucks, so we did, and we definitely played Star Wars there. Hahahah. We tried to be quiet, but sometimes he would just get so excited that Chewie was in the cockpit, and he needed to find Hans Solo!
Random fact about me: I have actually never seen an entire Star Wars movie...shhh! Fortuantely, the toy came with a little picture book that taught me about Han and Chewie. :)
Do you see what is playing on the radio!? I was SOO happy! You better believe I turned that baby up and sang every. stinkin. word.
Anyway...I have had lots of really good luck at the Dollar Store and Target dollar section, and I wanted to share some of the loot I got! I hope some of you are able to score these awesome deals too!! Here is a picture of everything all together. :)
My favorite purchase is our book baskets! They were only 1.00 at Dollar Tree, and they match my room PERFECTLY!! That's even cheaper than the little bags I used last year. I think the only option cheaper would be Ziploc bags, which I've never had much luck with. I snagged 24 of these, and can not wait to use them!!
Aren't they so cute?! They are perfect size for sweet little 1st grader hands! They actually seem pretty sturdy too, and we have lots of talks about how to handle them correctly. I'm in a new room this year, but I will post pictures of storing them on the shelf. :) Beside the book baskets, I also got some cute little baskets for workstation storage, teacher storage, etc. I'm not sure exactly what they are for, but you can never have too many baskets!!!
They had these, and I didn't have to buy all 48!! :) I think I bought 12 of them...these will hold pocket chart materials, and cookie sheet/magnet board materials.
Those are dry erase board with primary lines! SOOO perfect for my guided reading when we do interactive writing, etc. They would also make a great handwriting station. I let my babies use all different types of paper, and not all of it is lined, but I like to have them use it occasionally.
We are SOO perfect for word work!!!!!!!!! I also like to use stickers for capitalization lessons, alliteration lessons, etc. :) It makes those letters stand out!
Those alphabet beads need no explanation! I LOVE them!!! I think they might actually be from Wal Mart, but I think they were still a dollar. :) They will use these for building words on pipe cleaners.
I can't wait to use these! I THINK I am going to write sight words on them and put them on the ceiling. Then, they can use flashlights to find them. I'm not totally sure yet, but they are precious.
I bought 24 binders for their take home binders. Unfortunately, these don't have an insert for the front cover, but my babies don't bring binders in, so I have to buy them myself. It wasn't worth an extra 2.00 a binder to get some with inserts. I got purple, green, and black, of course. :)
These were NOT from the dollar section. Boo! If they sold these babies in the dollar section, I would literally buy ALL of them and give them away! The paper backs were only 3, and the Pete the Cat was too much hahahah $16.I posted a few days ago about back to school books I wanted to order, but I think I will stick with these. I have like 10 of the Old Lady books...they LOVE them, they have one for practically every holiday, and event, and they are perfect for retelling, sequencing, and vocabulary.
I already posted a Teacher Binder on TPT, but I wasn't crazy about it (for me), and wanted to make a new one. It is SO cute. I am going to post it on TPT for probably 2.00, but as a little gift to you, if you email me I will email it to you for free!!! Anyone who reads my blog will know that and can shoot me an email at mysillyfirsties@gmail.com. Let me know you are a follower, and I will send you the PDF! It is 17 pages for your teacher binder, including one black line of the do list. :) I LIVE by to do lists. The awesome chevron pattern is from Miss N- Coffee, Kids, and Compulsive Lists.
I love the stars on the ceiling and flashlights. Creative.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about you but whenever I buy baskets or notebooks in bulk I try to slip in that I'm a teacher...I think I get weird looks, lol. Maybe it's all in my head?

You Might Be a First Grader...
You have some great goodies! =)
ReplyDeleteI love the alphabet beads. We always do TONS of activities the first week with our names. After reading Tikki Tikki Tembo we graph the number of letters in our name and then make name bracelets. They love it! =)

I have used the same style baskets (from the Dollar Tree) for 5 years as Book Baskets. Originally I bought 20 and 14 of them are still in great shape. I just bought a few more from the Dollar Tree to replace the few that were worn out. They last forever. I think you will like them. I love the ice cube tray idea for alphabet stamps. I just bought some small stamps and this will help keep them sorted. Thanks for the idea! I began posting things on Teachers pay Teachers a few months ago. It took a little while, but sales have picked up. Just keep posting things and when you mention them on this blog, then more people will hear about them. Congratulations on finishing your first year teaching. I'm going to follow your blog now.
