120th Day of School

Good Morning!! It's the first day of Spring Break and I am LOVING it. I already ran a ton of errands and am about to get my shop on for our new place!! Crate and Barrel is trying to kill me...they just came out with a new puprle line and I think I just need it ALL.

I wanted to stop by and share a few photos from our 120th Day of School. It was a fun-filled BUSY day...we didn't get to do all the activities I had planned (doesn't that always happen??) but we got in as much as we could. We also had a school wide assembly, computer lab, and OPEN HOUSE that morning. We do open house in the morning, and I LOVE it that way. The parents just follow their kiddos in and spend a few minutes with us. They get to show all their work, but we also have games and activities for them to complete together. For kiddos who's parents aren't able to make it, we have fun buddy games and activities for them to do. :) If you are looking for a new way to do school-wide open house, I would definitely reccomend it. :)

We started our day setting a goal to read 120 books. We talked about how that meant each student needed to read 6 books. We practiced adding them to our chart, and parents loved getting to share that with us! There are lots of ways to number the chart, but this seemed like the easiest to me. :) It also helped with making groups of 10!

Here are some sweet boys adding to the chart. I let them use my flair pens to make it extra colorful and I knew markers would be too thick!

I gave them specific time during the day to read together and independently, but they also could add books they read when they finished work. :) Unfortunatley, we didn't quite make it. :( We had 80 when we had to go to our school assembly, but I gave them the task of trying to finish over Spring Break. Hopefully we will get to finish our chart next Monday!

After that, we still had parents with us, so we played Roll and Color. I'm so mad I forgot to snap a pick but they roll a dice and color that many on the 120 chart. It's a perfect game to play with a partner or even a group of 3! Here is what it looks like though! :)

After that, they completed 120 chart puzzles with their parents or a partner.

About this time, it was time for parents to start heading out so we started our first group activity. They had cards that skip counted from 0-120 and they had to work with their table groups to put them in order. I decided to do it this way, but it would be perfect for a math center at a table or in a pocket chart!

As groups finished, they went right back to reading to add to our chart! :)

A bit later, we sat down together and talked about all the things we had learned in the first 120 days of school! There is SO much we have done, and I was so excited to see what stuck out to them. Then they wrote and drew about it.

Then I had them draw their best friends over the first 120 days of school. SO sweet! :)

The very last thing we did was our Superstar Snack! IT was SO fun and great practice for my few kiddos who are still working on 1:1. I put 3 snacks at each of our 4 tables (12 snacks in all.) I moved the plates and the kiddos stayed seated. It helped minimize the chaos a little, haha!

All of these activites and SO much more are in my Rocking Through the 120th Day of School Pack! I hope everyone has a fantastic week! I'd love to see pictures of your celebration! Leave them in the comments! :)
