The King of Ing!

Hi friends! How was your week? Mine was pretty awful. Here's how it went down.

Monday...I get a sweet hug from a baby and right as he hugging me he says "You feel like you have a baby inside you." Yes sweet boy, your teacher is "fluffy." Thank you.

Tuesday-Can't find my cell phone so I look around my class for a few minutes to no avail. A few minutes later I hear it vibrating. I look down and it's in the trash can. WHICH happens to be housing my spilt Venti Caramel Macchiato. So...there goes that phone!

Wednesday-I get home to take a nap after a LONG day...take my rings off and CLICK I hear my wedding band hit the dresser. No big deal right?! I immediately start looking for it and I'm not kidding...it's GONE. I looked for 3 HOURS until hubby got home...he looked too. I'm telling you...there is a ghost that snuck in my room and stole my ring. SO weird. Thank goodness my band is really simple with no diamonds or anything..but still...I'm sick about it!

I HOPE your week was better than mine, haha! I see some wine in my future and a mani/pedi!

We've had a busy week! This week in Word Study we were done with our units so I thought about something a lot of my kiddos needed. We've been encountering "ing" words in alot of our GR books and some of my friends are struggling with it. It just really trips them up. I remembered these adorable pins I found...

So...the next day we watched some Youtube videos about ing! There are actually a lot more but these were our favorite!

Then we brainstormed words with "ing" in them. I love that the 2nd word they thought of was meditating. I don't know how you people create such adorable anchor charts. If I can't make it right then (or frantically right before class) it's probably not getting done! Haha!!

Then it was their turn to write words! Sentence strips would have been MUCH easier but I didn't have any so I improvised and cut up poster board. :) I was feeling rather demanding so I made them write 20 words. It honestly only took about 15 minutes...they were on a roll. Of course, most of them don't have control over the rules for doubling the consonant, etc but neither do I! :) The first video hits on it a bit, and some of them are gaining control. But our learning target was adding "ing" to words and they rocked at that!

After they were done, they colored/cut their crowns out. I put them on cardstock, but construction paper would work!

I just stapled the poster board around their head and then added the crown. :) Voila!

If you want the crown for your own kiddos, just grab it HERE!
