This week in Ms. H's room

So...what's my favorite thing about today? The Bridezillas marathon I just found. These girls make me feel like the best fiancee ever. :) And they are stinkin' hilarious! Seriously...the drama...oh the drama!

Anyway, on a way less dramatic note, here a few pictures of what we did this week. :) During our Morning Meeting, I realized that my littles don't know the order of the months. I know that's totally a first grade thing, but the date doesn't make much sense to them when they don't realize the 9 in 9-7-12 is because September is the 9th month. :) In pocket chart this week, we put the months in order. I also numbered them 1-12 on the back, but during my modeling, we talked about how that is only to CHECK our work...one super smart kiddo said "so can't we just turn them over and put the numbers in order?" and of course, I said NO silly goose! We are practicing the months, not counting to 12. :)

Something else we worked on in our pocket chart center is color words. I used the sweet fish from Scrappin' Doodles to make these color sentences.

We also have been working on Science Process Skills. I will be talking more about those later, but my favorites from this week were inferencing and predicting.

For inferencing, they worked in a group to make inferences about some pictures. Thanks to MelonHeadz and Scrappin' Doodles for the cute clipart! :) I scribed for some of the groups, and then we shared our ideas!

Click the picture to get your free copy! Here are examples of their inferencing.

So precious right?!? My favorite is "he's going to a conference." I didn't even think of that, haha. :) And finally, we used these little flow maps to practice predicting. I gave them two events, and they predicted what the third event would be.

They were SO good at this too! I was so proud! Here is the link for that freebie. :)

I hope you can use these freebies in your class this week! I have lots of fun stuff I made this weekend...after we use it in class, I will share all of it with you. :)
